Rogers APN Settings (for Android phones)

76 comments

These settings will allow you to use a non-Rogers phone on the Rogers network. They should work for any phone but I’ll focus on how to configure things in Android.

To get to the configuration screen go to:

Settings > Wireless & Networks > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names
**menu button* > New APN*

Data Configuration

  • Name: Rogers
  • APN: internet.com
  • Password: wap
  • MCC: 302
  • MNC: 720
  • APN Type: default,supl

all other settings left blank

MMS Configuration

Then if you need support for picture and video texts also add the following APN.

  • Name: Rogers MMS
  • APN: rogers-core-appl1.apn
  • MMSC: http://mms.grps.rogers.com
  • MMS Proxy: 10.128.1.69
  • MMS Port: 80
  • MCC: 302
  • MNC: 720
  • APN Type: mms

all other settings left blank

MMS and Internet settings:

Name: Rogers
APN: rogers-core-appl1.apn
MMSC: http://mms.gprs.rogers.com
MMS Proxy: 10.128.1.69
MMS Port: 80
MCC: 302
MNC: 720

- (Above settings here are all you need with them set as internet and MMS)
- To fix the problem you need to send yourself an MMS and it sets up your phone on the network.

I have an HTC Sensation XE from Taiwan using Chunghua Telecom, which has an agreement with Rogers. I can use the phone, but I have no data connection. I get an error message that I have lost data connectivity.

Do you have advice on how to access the Rogers network for a data connection?

Reply

Mark May 3, 2012 at 9:46 AM

Me again.
What do you mean by “with them set as internet and MMS”? How do I set them as internet & MMS?
Also, do you know why the new APN settings wouldn’t show in the list with my default settings? When I click Save New APN, it goes to the APN listing, and a little popup says it is saving, but I cannot see the new APN. However, when I tried to save a new apn without the detailed information (just a few random characters in the name and APN), it would get listed with the defaults.

Try to change the APN to
rogers-core-appl1.apn
leave the rest blank, save and exit

works for a dell venue pro. make sure that you put the proxy and url on the same line, the fort is quite small and I almost missed the forward slash (it might have been since I am partially colour blind and the red slash was barely visible to me.

Sweet!!!! I had hesitations this would work after visiting my local Rogers dealer today and having it explained to me that there was no way they could make my phone work on their network beyond voice and text as it was “all in the hardware from China”. This just took me a couple minutes and I am suddenly now browsing data with their edge network! (paid for!) Thanks for these settings so I can use my unlocked HTC phone on Rogers!

It says can’t establish reliable data connection to server.

this could be temp or your sim card may not be provisioned for data.

The following are the ideal APN settings for Rogers

Name Rogers Mobile
APN: rogers-core-appl1.apn
Proxy:
Port:
Username:
Password:
Server:
MMSC: http://mms.gprs.rogers.com
MMS Proxy: 10.128.1.69
MMS Port: 80
MCC: 302 (retrieved from SIM)
MNC: 720 (retrieved from SIM).
Authentication type:
APN type: default,mms,supl,Internet+mms

This covers all your bases, whether it be WAP, 3G, or MMS.

Make sure your Network Mode is set to Auto(or GSM Only, but you will find the internet to often be slow if you use this option)
And lastly, if it doesn’t work immediately after changing these settings, try going to Network Operators > Search Networks, then select Rogers, this will attempt to register you with the Rogers network.
I recommend rebooting your phone as well, after all this.

This info worked for me, on my HTC Status(or ChaCha depending on where you’re from)

Just installed the latest Evolver ROM & Radio to my rooted Rogers HTC EVO 3D. Unfortunately it wiped my Mobile settings as a result. I found your APN settings on-line, entered them and was pleasantly surprised. I’ve got my 3G & 4G back.

Much thanks for sharing

Do you by any chance know how would I connect to rogers MMS to send a multimedia message from a cell modem (programmaticaly)?
I’m trying

message_send2("AT+CMMSCURL=\"mms.gprs.rogers.com\"\r\n");
wait(0.01);
//set bearer context id
message_send2("AT+CMMSCID=1\r\n");
wait(0.01);
//set the IP address and Port of MMS proxy gateway, Rogers
message_send2("AT+CMMSPROTO=\"10.128.1.69\",80\r\n");
wait(0.01);
//parameters for MMS pdu. Not necessary to send?
message_send2("AT+CMMSSENDCFG=6,3,0,0,2,4\r\n");
wait(0.01);
//set active bearer profile
message_send2("AT+SAPBR=3,1,\"Contype\",\"GPRS\"\r\n");
wait(0.01);
message_send2("AT+SAPBR=3,1,\"APN\",\"rogers-core-appl1.apn\"\r\n");

And its not working.
