Rogers APN Settings (for Android phones)

These settings will allow you to use a non-Rogers phone on the Rogers network. They should work for any phone but I’ll focus on how to configure things in Android.

To get to the configuration screen go to:

Settings > Wireless & Networks > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names
**menu button* > New APN*

Data Configuration

  • Name: Rogers
  • APN:
  • Password: wap
  • MCC: 302
  • MNC: 720
  • APN Type: default,supl

all other settings left blank

MMS Configuration

Then if you need support for picture and video texts also add the following APN.

  • Name: Rogers MMS
  • APN: rogers-core-appl1.apn
  • MMSC:
  • MMS Proxy:
  • MMS Port: 80
  • MCC: 302
  • MNC: 720
  • APN Type: mms

all other settings left blank

Thanks! This was instrumental in getting my Galaxy Tab working!

George July 10, 2011 at 11:02 PM

Thanks for this. This work for the HTC Sensation phone.

Robin Lu August 14, 2011 at 6:05 PM

Hi, George;
I got a HTC Sensation phone.
But I am trying to setup based above with Rogers network.
It doesn’t work. Could you give me some clue ?

Shandy April 25, 2012 at 9:52 PM

MMS and Internet settings:

Name: Rogers
APN: rogers-core-appl1.apn
MMS Proxy:
MMS Port: 80
MCC: 302
MNC: 720

– (Above settings here are all you need with them set as internet and MMS)
– To fix the problem you need to send yourself an MMS and it sets up your phone on the network.

Mark May 2, 2012 at 1:37 PM

I have an HTC Sensation XE from Taiwan using Chunghua Telecom, which has an agreement with Rogers. I can use the phone, but I have no data connection. I get an error message that I have lost data connectivity.

Do you have advice on how to access the Rogers network for a data connection?

Mark May 3, 2012 at 9:46 AM

Me again.
What do you mean by “with them set as internet and MMS”? How do I set them as internet & MMS?
Also, do you know why the new APN settings wouldn’t show in the list with my default settings? When I click Save New APN, it goes to the APN listing, and a little popup says it is saving, but I cannot see the new APN. However, when I tried to save a new apn without the detailed information (just a few random characters in the name and APN), it would get listed with the defaults.

jeremyyy January 2, 2013 at 7:29 PM

yea same with me

T00FACE March 1, 2014 at 12:02 PM

Sending myself a mms message worked and got me up and running! Thanks Shandy, your settings were all I needed.
Mark, when you are entering your apn settings under APN Type you select —>internet + mms
Hope thats what you were wondering! ;)-~ CheerZ.

kris May 22, 2012 at 6:09 PM

Shandy’s settings workout perfectly on my Atrix on rogers.

Jose September 21, 2011 at 2:07 AM

Worked on my overseas LG Optimus 2X. However I don’t which of the two apn settings I should use since I can go online using either one

Troy December 7, 2011 at 7:14 PM

works for a dell venue pro. make sure that you put the proxy and url on the same line, the fort is quite small and I almost missed the forward slash (it might have been since I am partially colour blind and the red slash was barely visible to me.

Mr. Topp January 12, 2012 at 8:35 AM

Thank you very much — the ICS ROM that I downloaded clearly had the wrong settings. Rogers isn’t much help, but this got me up and running!

jasmine February 8, 2012 at 2:03 PM

thanks a lot! finally got my data running after one month

Darren February 14, 2012 at 9:32 PM

Sweet!!!! I had hesitations this would work after visiting my local Rogers dealer today and having it explained to me that there was no way they could make my phone work on their network beyond voice and text as it was “all in the hardware from China”. This just took me a couple minutes and I am suddenly now browsing data with their edge network! (paid for!) Thanks for these settings so I can use my unlocked HTC phone on Rogers!

Casey February 21, 2012 at 9:25 PM

APN = mms did it for me!!

John March 14, 2012 at 1:10 PM

Thanks for the APN settings – Worked immediately and were significantly different from the settings Rogers Help gave me which did not work!

Jon March 25, 2012 at 11:40 PM
Eric May 15, 2012 at 10:54 PM

Jon is correct. It should be the following for Rogers MMS:

Thanks, Jon. I can send MMS for the first time in months now..

Alan October 9, 2013 at 5:31 PM

That grps –> gprs fixed it for me. Typo on someones part. Works great now.

Bonnie May 23, 2012 at 2:02 PM

I have been trying to get my T-Mobile Android working on the rogers net work but having NO luck

Bonnie May 23, 2012 at 2:27 PM

It says can’t establish reliable data connection to server.

this could be temp or your sim card may not be provisioned for data.

I have a data plan on my phone… what next

Brad May 28, 2012 at 1:26 PM

Thank you so much for this. Works great and prevented me from spending 1/2 an hour on the phone with Rogers support.
Great job!

Andrew May 29, 2012 at 1:57 PM

You are the man !!! easy walk through and set up works like a charm ! Thanks

Richard June 6, 2012 at 9:46 PM

The following are the ideal APN settings for Rogers

Name Rogers Mobile
APN: rogers-core-appl1.apn
MMS Proxy:
MMS Port: 80
MCC: 302 (retrieved from SIM)
MNC: 720 (retrieved from SIM).
Authentication type:
APN type: default,mms,supl,Internet+mms

This covers all your bases, whether it be WAP, 3G, or MMS.

Make sure your Network Mode is set to Auto(or GSM Only, but you will find the internet to often be slow if you use this option)
And lastly, if it doesn’t work immediately after changing these settings, try going to Network Operators > Search Networks, then select Rogers, this will attempt to register you with the Rogers network.
I recommend rebooting your phone as well, after all this.

This info worked for me, on my HTC Status(or ChaCha depending on where you’re from)

Chris June 26, 2012 at 8:56 AM

Installed an ICS ROM on my Rogers EVO 3D and MMS and data working perfectly

Black Pearl August 16, 2012 at 1:21 PM

Just installed the latest Evolver ROM & Radio to my rooted Rogers HTC EVO 3D. Unfortunately it wiped my Mobile settings as a result. I found your APN settings on-line, entered them and was pleasantly surprised. I’ve got my 3G & 4G back.

Much thanks for sharing

Ivan September 28, 2012 at 1:53 AM

Do you by any chance know how would I connect to rogers MMS to send a multimedia message from a cell modem (programmaticaly)?
I’m trying

//set bearer context id
//set the IP address and Port of MMS proxy gateway, Rogers
//parameters for MMS pdu. Not necessary to send?
//set active bearer profile

And its not working.

Karl May 20, 2013 at 6:37 PM

Hey guys! I had a blackberry. My old bb can switch 3g to 2g, 2g to 3g, and vice versa. I received a xperia e as a gift. I got the data running but I was struggling to find the menu that would make me able to switch my 2g to 3g. ATM, I’m on 2g. I was wondering if you guys could help me out with my problem. Thank you so much!!!

Kevin May 26, 2013 at 10:43 AM

MaryAnne: rogers has given you separate settings for internet and mms. trick is to set it up as a single apn (took me a year to figure this out!) as follows:

Name: rogers internet
APN: rogers-core-appl1.apn
Proxy: leave blank
Port: leave blank
Username: WAPuser1
Password: wap
Server: leave blank
MMS Proxy:
MMS Port: 80
MCC: 302
MNC: 72 or 720
Authentication type: leave blank
APN type: leave blank
APN protocol: IPv4 (this will be filled-in automatically)

Simon August 14, 2013 at 11:03 AM

I have a nexus 4 I purchased from the Google play store and I cannot tether my phone to my nexus 7 2 tablet using the hotspot settings or foxfi…. The network comments but no data is sent…

Rogers told me there are no blocks on their end, but they have no fix for it either.

Maybe it is the apn settings?

Simon August 14, 2013 at 11:48 AM

I meant to say the network connects, not comments πŸ™‚

RYNO October 15, 2013 at 9:20 PM

Hi! I have a Samsung Galaxy Core from Asia on Rogers Network. I get only E on the data which is the slowest and cannot get the 3G to work. Can you please help me get the APN and MMS settings for this device Samsung Galaxy Core Model #GT-I8262.

Pete November 24, 2013 at 12:28 PM

I’m a little confused. This is working for data but I can’t send pics or receive pics in texts. I added a second APN as above suggested, but under my APN listings only “Rogers” has a tab next to it. How do I have both activated, or did I do it wrong somehow?

kem December 11, 2013 at 5:48 PM

I tried the same thing but not working then called Rogers they did same thing but you know it send me 2 PIC messages but again stop . Just curious I have MMS with rogers but don’t have any data plan. When I on my Mobile Data It immediately give BBM is connected but I try to send email but it sending failure, question BBM use any data and Rogers is going to charge for it.

Chantal December 14, 2013 at 12:30 AM

Darn I really wished this would work out for me. I put all the APN as it should be, and my phone still doesn’t work. I bought one of those cheap phones from China, it’s a; 4 inch mini 9300 Android 4.1 Smart Phone SP6820A. I can put 2 SIM cards in it, and have a Telus one that has money in it, but no signal. I also have a Rogers SIM in it and I have money in it as well, and I can’t get a signal. The phone seems good, I can go on Internet by WiFi with no problem. I have 2 other phones that I ordered for XMAS for my kids and me, If I can’t get this one to work, I just don’t know what to do. Is there a way to get a signal in the phone? They should work with GSM- 2G – 850/900/1800/1900Mghz. These should work with Rogers and Fido according to research I have done. Can Anyone HELP?? Please…

Mayo January 13, 2014 at 4:53 PM

Also called Rogers and they were not only useless, one guy was also rude… so I searched on my own and came here.. I tried all the above without success, then kept searching and finally this worked for me:

APN – ltemobile.apn
Proxy –
Port –
Passwors –
MMS – proxy
MMS – Port 80
MMS protocol – Wap 2.0
MCC – 302
MNC – 720
Aythentication type –
APN type – either “*” or “internet + mms” Should work

My previous post was a little messy.. NO passwords & NO usernames.

found at:

in my case I used “default, mms, supl,Internet+mms” in the type. Maybe I’ll try “*” sounds neat

I have a Motorola Atrix MB860 that I unlocked from Bell to use with Rogers

Miss K Evans January 14, 2014 at 1:24 PM
